At 59 Ogden Street John H. Witten runs a Newark boarding house with a bar. Seven boarders fought over a roast chicken, knives and crockery used, Campbell received a four inch neck gash, John Welsh was battered with a cut on the head. Police arrived in minutes. two men were taken to the Second Precinct in an ambulance and later allowed to return. The dining room was badly wrecked.
CunthamM N C Nov 15 A white man Moore was sent to the chain gang for trading wives with another man. He claimed the act was not a crime and said a man offered a wife to swap, with $1.50 paid. The other man who instigated the trade was not yet apprehended.
Wm. Bonnar, 35, of five miles north of Larwill, Whitely County, was instantly killed while chopping timber on his land. A tree he and his brother felled fell in an unforeseen direction, burying him. He left a wife and three children in dire need.
Mrs. Kinnick of southeast Indianapolis faced tragedy when her infant died in its sleep while she was away at church. The child, tightly wrapped against the cold, offered no struggle or sound before death. Authorities reported the death as an apparent suffocation event in the mother’s arms.
Washington November 15 Second Comptroller Maynard rules that a soldier who served two years or more in the army and deserted after war’s end, but later received an honorable discharge, is entitled to a bounty of five dollars under the thirteenth section of the act of July. The decision clarifies eligibility for veterans’ bounty despite desertion after hostilities ceased.

RichMond Indiana Nov 14. William Brokman was killed by William Dunning after a pistol discharged unexpectedly. Dunning claimed he did not know the gun was loaded, and authorities opened an investigation into the accidental shooting.
New Orleans dispatch reports A S Pipes a prominent planter of Oak Ridge Louisiana was murdered by a negro and the perpetrator was hanged on a tree.
Decatur November 14 Dietrick Linne meyer died near here Friday at the age of ninety four. His wife is four months younger and still survives.
Topeka on November 14 reports Lillian Quinn a Waite girl at a Winfield Kansas hotel shot her lover Frank E. Lockwood then killed herself in a fatal domestic incident.
New York November 12. John C. Eno who embezzled over 2.5 million dollars from the Second National Bank is near settlement through his unmarried sister and family funds. District Attorney acknowledged knowledge of talks but wouldn’t say if indictments would be quashed. Eno traveled from Montreal in disguise to New York to arrange restitution before returning to Canada.
