Chicago on November 11 reports describe the execution of Anarchists Parsons Spies Fischer and Engel after hours in the jail. AP journalists observed guards and prisoners as the hangings were prepared in the northeast cell-room near the scaffold.
A detailed account covers the execution of four anarchists Spies Engel Fischer and Parsons at the Cook County Jail on Dearborn Street. Washington November 14 The Driven Well Patent long upheld by the Supreme Court in case 16 Andrew Green et al against Geo Hovey was ruled invalid based on evidence that the invention was publicly used in Cortland New York by others more than two years before the patent application. The Circuit Court decree in favor of Hovey is affirmed.
Baltimore reports say Stephens H. H. Culver a colored man, his oldest son, and his youngest child died in a house fire near Severn Station on the Baltimore and Potomac railroad. Culver carried the infant from a second story window as the floor collapsed, and both he and his son perished trying to save him.
Wasixetox November 13 Surgeon General Hamilton of the Marine Hospital Service submits his annual Treasury report. Receipts total 570,227 and expenditures 161,336. Epidemic prevention fund spending reaches 48,649. The number of sailors treated rises to 40,314, a record for the year.
It is reported on good authority that Clara Louise Kellogg and her manager Carl Strakosch wed here last Tuesday. An attempt was made to keep the matter quiet with a sworn minister and hidden county records, but the marriage became public today. Kellogg is forty five years old.
Washington November 13 It is understood ex Senator Harrison of Indiana who has been here for several days is prepared to contest the seat of Senator elect Turpie.
Official returns from all counties show Hart of the Republican party with a plurality of 4888 for State Treasurer. The result marks a net Republican gain of 1372 compared with 1885 Treasurer votes and 2237 versus last year’s Governor race.
Caicaco, Nov. 13. Fielden and Schiwab departed at 1 o'clock yesterday by train to Joliet penitentiary. They were manacled and shackled after bidding farewell to their wives and children.
The Pioneer Press reports from Clyndon Minnesota that five laborers returning from Montana were killed in a midnight collision at Averill Siding between a regular freight train and a wild stock train.
Des Moines Indiana November 13 A man named Keily mistook his wife for bothersome parties and shot her in what was described as probably fatal. The incident occurred at their home and authorities investigated the misfire as a domestic dispute.
In Ouroria Washington Territory Angus McLane, lessee of the Kneeland Hotel in Shelton, is jailed on arson and murder charges after saturating a closet with coal oil and burning the hotel. He watched guests flee in night clothing as one man, Harry Conner, burned to death. McLane claimed his wife set the fire but she proved an alibi.
Sioux City Illinois November 14 The sheriff completed service of an extra venue for seventy five jurors to select a jury to try John Arensdorf a second time for the murder of Rev George Hadock. Trial set for Monday in district court Judge Wak en field presiding. Defense moved to dismiss after a prior disagreement but motion overruled. Indications point to trial proceeding though a continuation is rumored. No new important evidence has surfaced.
In NicaGco Illinois the water famine outlook grows dire as Springfield reports an 18.16 inch rainfall deficit for the year. After July 3 a prior excess faded and deficiency accumulated due to sustained drought. Deputy Marshal reports farmers in Hamilton County hauling water ten miles for daily use amid scant supplies.
In Mercer County at Princeton a man named John Wright tried to force entry at Mrs Levi Martins home. A shot fired through the door struck Wright in the face and lodged in his mouth before entering his throat. In Monongahela County at Fetterman John Ling was shot in a similar manner. At Covington’s farm a man named Fia was shot in the arm and side after attempting to enter Saturday night.
Lancaster reports Wm B Middleton superintendent of Penn Iron Works has secured letters patent for a steel welding process. An experiment shows that coating steel pieces at welding heat with silicate of soda allows perfect welding, sustaining the inventor's claim.
Gatena Int reports a mammoth cave found in Siuss ourg Wisconsin near the city containing thousands of tons of black jack zinc ore. Miners excited by the discovery note the ore is exceptionally pure though its specific gravity is lower than standard ore, it yields a higher zinc percentage.
Washington dispatch notes that the British Minister reports the government will rigorously enforce the 1875 act on explosives. Importing any explosives in baggage into the United Kingdom now incurs heavy penalties plus forfeiture.

Mildred Tyler, a 30 year old Black woman, tried to burn herself to death by soaking her nightdress in kerosene and striking a match. She repented as flames spread, called for help, and was badly burned before rescuers stopped the blaze.
