CuiprPewa Ont November 8 two men in a small row boat neared the rapids above Niagara Falls and ignored warnings. Their craft broke up in the rapids and both disappeared. Reports say they were Germans unnamed at the moment with one rumor naming August a Buffalo baker among the victims.
From Henry County near Holgate, reports claim Wilhelm Freund and his wife Mrs Freund have welcomed five boys born days apart, all alive and well. Mrs Freund, thirty six, has borne twenty one children in nineteen years of marriage, eighteen living. Doctors Townsend of Holgate and Harrison of Napoleon are said to have attended and verified portions of the accounts. The couple and their large brood reside on a small farm, with some births reportedly in the hay-field.
United States Grand Jury indicts John H Overton proprietor of the Southern Hotel newsstand for conspiring to defraud the government with forged money orders signed by ex postmaster John E Quinn of Paragould Ark. Overton allegedly identified Quinn as a fictitious person enabling collection of orders and faces additional charges over postage stamp schemes.
A policeman found a starving family of five children ages seventeen, twelve, nine, seven, and a dead infant in a Charles Street tenement. The house lacked food and furniture while a mealless fire burned in the stove. French Canadian siblings spoke little English. An undertaker was sent to bury the deceased child after overseers arranged provisions and wood.
A Belgrade dispatch reports a confession by a suspect in the Milan conspiracy who says placing Prince Karageorgovitch on the Servian throne would have allowed Russia to dominate the Balkans. Concurrent reports from Constantinople claim Russia aimed to justify a new war with Turkey to seize control of the region, worsening Austria Russia tensions.
Washington reports that Secretary Manning has authorized suspension of all operations at the Carson City Nevada Mint. Since coinage of the standard silver dollar was halted there last June the facility has functioned as an assay office with insignificant deposits. The mining region’s yield has dwindled to nearly nothing, leaving the Carson Mint with little purpose.
In Atlanta on November 5 two aging laborers William Kennebread and Phil Jonson, both well diggers, were killed by a blasting powder explosion during a rock blasting operation. They descended thirty feet to widen holes, then a blast sent debris and several workers scattering. The blast killed the two men instantly and sent one body into the air as others were injured.
In Emporia Kansas on November 6 the Walkup trial ended with a jury verdict of not guilty. The judge discharged the defendant, and Mrs Walkup, visibly overwhelmed, expressed gratitude to the jurors while her relatives and the judge received their thanks amid cheers from the crowd.
In Bonaventure on a Montreal morning, a woman named Fortin threw her ten year old son from a moving train at sixteen miles per hour after the boy was found to have smallpox. Passengers murmured, the train stopped, and the mother was arrested.
A boiler burst in Wm. Riker Son's laboratory on Lower Second Street in Evansville causes extensive damage and injures eight workers, three fatally. The blast hurls the boiler through the building, demolishes walls, and sends debris into the street. Authorities cite defective iron and gauge readings prior to the accident.

One well that previously had the strongest pressure and powered a large steam engine has been abandoned. Most other wells in the area are going out of use.
Corning, Pa., November 5. Mrs Catherine Trump, postmistress, was arrested on a charge of opening letters to read about neighbors business secrets and local youths love affairs. She pleaded guilty but claimed she was committing an offense for which she would be punished.
London reports a romantic stir in Berlin as a young heiress, educated in a French convent, travels penniless from Frankfort after being abandoned by a monk disguise. Passports fixed the mystery of her identity, revealing a 600000 mark fortune. The French Embassy protects the waif while many suitors now seek her.
In the Ohio River at Split Rock near Aurora, the steamer Jas W Gaff from Memphis to Cincinnati and the Mountain Girl carrying a circus company collided. The Mountain Girl sank in five minutes with two feet of water over the cabin. one canvasman from Lawrenceburg Ind. died. The Gaff was undamaged.
Reports from St Paul Minnesota and North Dakota describe severe snow storms with six inches of snow in Duluth and ongoing blizzard conditions. Brainerd and rapid City also report heavy snowfall marking the worst storm in five years in Duluth as of this afternoon.
William Tobin, the final street car dynamiter arrested in St Louis, tells Chief Parrigan the plan was perfected in a meeting where Pinkerton, master workman of the assembly, drafted and signed the warrant for the dynamite. He says assembly members knew nothing and six conspirators carried out the plot while others were kept ignorant.
Foremen of Roach's shipyard departments ordered to report Monday morning and take on about 150 men, with possible increases up to 300. Workers will be on the government payrolls. Three months to complete the Boston vessel and about ten months for the Chicago project.
The will of Henry W. Shaw known as Josh Billings was filed in the Surrogate's Office. He leaves $1000 to each of his two sons in law, bequeaths his books letters and effects to his wife and two daughters, and provides life interest to his widow with the remainder to the daughters. The estate is valued at about $93,000.
Miss Nancy Welsh eighteen years old employed as a domestic in James Robertson's household was found dead in her bed this morning. An inquest by the Coroner found heart disease caused the death. This marks a third sudden death in WaBash within a week.
John McCullough the tragedian died today at 1 o clock at his wife's house in East Frankford road Philadelphia. Present were his wife Mrs West daughter Mrs James McCullough daughter-in-law W H Johnson legal adviser Drs Engle and McNutt and the nurse. He died without a struggle and passed away as a child going to sleep after the crisis in his disease on Thursday when Dr Engle believed recovery was possible until a sparked change Friday night.
In Columbus at the Neil House lobby, Auditor of State Kiesewetter attempted to shoot W. J. Elliott, editor of the Sunday Capital. The first bullet pierced Elliott's overcoat and wounded his hand slightly. a second bullet hit the ceiling. Kiesewetter was arrested and later released on $1,000 bail.
Winnipig Manitoba November 5 Judge Rouleau of Battleford tried forty six Indian prisoners. Sixteen discharged twenty nine sent to penitentiary for periods from two years up to twenty and eleven sentenced to be hanged November 27. The men were identified as directly involved in the Frog Lake massacre.

Daniel P. Ryder of Elkhart Idaho suffered a grave injury after a knife blade pierced his femoral artery. Doctors fear the wound will prove fatal as the heart is affected and the patient may not survive.
Buffalo New York November 8 article reports Niagara County apple crop at about eight hundred thousand barrels the largest yield on record with excellent quality and an average price around 1.35 per barrel The strong harvest offsets the nearly failing potato crop addressing local agricultural impact and market outlook.
