A midnight cyclone swept Blanchard river area in Hardin County Ohio. Four people were found dead near Dunkirk while a fast express train suffered major damage with twelve passengers injured including an eye injury and a broken leg. Names of the dead at Dunkirk were William McElree and two children and Mrs. Rufus Lease. Dozens more wounded reported as rescuers searched by lantern light.
Chicago May 14 An expressman named Bias fifty years old hanged himself from a rafter in the barn behind his home at 733 Milwaukee avenue His wife found him and her screams drew a crowd but no one interfered as he struggled to free himself Finally after ten or fifteen minutes a policeman cut him down and he was dead.
In Sarahsville Noble County Ohio this afternoon the boiler of a portable saw mill engine exploded killing 17 year old Engineer Lafayette Tuttle and bystander Louis Bates while fatally injuring proprietor James Herron off bearer Ed Hill and Nathan Butler. Bates and Hill were blown to pieces with heads found about 200 feet away.
In St Louis on May 14 a new strike at Belcher Sugar Refinery began as nearly fifty to sixty workers who had stayed silent during prior eight hour agitation demanded fifteen cents more per day. When new men were hired to replace them the strikers attacked those workers, police arrived to disperse the crowd, and a detail of officers was assigned to guard the works.
Washington County grand jury returns true bills against ninety one striking coal miners charged with conspiracy. Trials set for the current term. miners’ officials will press the conspiracy laws and may appeal to the Supreme Court if lower court rulings are unfavorable. Indictments arise from riot in the fourth pool months ago.
New York on May 14 reports Schultz secured Most’s release and says anarchists plan a glove-free reception tonight at Beethoven Hall Sixth Street. Beethoven Hall’s proprietor warned he would eject the group if they tried to use the venue. John Summel of Germania Hall, where Most spoke, warned more of the same violence.
A Washington Special reports a private letter from William S. Bissell stating the President's wedding is planned for June 12 in Buffalo. It notes Miss Folsom's relapse of Roman fever but says travel may proceed if she recovers, with a postponement possible if illness delays travel, then a wedding within a week after returning to America.
Coroner reports nine boxes containing bodies of children and adults found half a mile south of Oak Park Cicero dispatch says they were taken from a nearby medical college dissecting room. About twelve bodies total including a woman and two infants were identified in fragments.
Loxpon datelined report states that the Government has just forwarded two million rounds of ball cartridges to Dublin. The move signals a large arms shipment to the Irish capital amid ongoing tensions.
The weekly business failures total 156 in the United States and 20 in Canada, according to R G Dun & Co. Reported figures show 192 failures last week and 207 the week before.

In Arizona a cavalry force under Captain Hatfield hit Geronimo ten miles southeast of Santa Cruz. The hostiles attacked Milepins Ranch, then Hatfield stampeded their camp after a dawn surprise. Two U.S. soldiers were killed and three wounded. many Indians reportedly killed. Reinforcements arrived as Maj. Rinz and Gen. Miles pursued. Reports also note Yaqui defeat in Sierra Bacachte with heavy losses, signaling an end to that war.
The U S Fish Commissioners car reached Portland Oregon with one million shad. About 300000 died and the rest to be planted in the Columbia and Willamette rivers. An in-car hatchery experiment hatched 95 percent of 600000 eggs carried in four MacDonald jars. Fresh water was supplied and most losses were due to premature birth.
In Jacksonville on May 16 a mob of about 200 men took Dan and Lon Mann from jail after they killed Marshal Campbell and wounded Officer McCormick at Raerton Ann Beate. The brothers were hanged from a tree, the coroner recording death by violence at unknown hands. McCormick survived.
In North St Louis Turner Hall an anarchist gathering raised funds for wounded comrades in Chicago and Milwaukee. Speaker Carl Bergmann attacked Die Parole editor Joseph Reifgarber, causing injuries. police intervened as Bergmann clashed with opponents. About $300 was raised for distressed anarchists.
A tornado swept through southern Hancock and northern Hardin counties Ohio Friday night, killing William McElvee and injuring a woman named Aegins. The Lease wife died and many buildings were destroyed with Hardin County losses near one million dollars. Three killed in Hopewell Township Mercer County as Topeka reports Mendan Kansas struck by a tornado injuring about twenty people.
In Green Bay Wisconsin on May 16 Julia Mazer, an insane woman, leaped from a third story window of the county house. She rose after the fall and returned inside. She suffered a broken collar bone but otherwise uninjured.
New York May 16. Jurors convict Alderman Jaehne of taking a $20,000 bribe from the Broadway Surface railroad in a corruption trial, the verdict delivered after deliberation.
In Philadelphia on May 15 the Keely Motor stockholders suffered another disappointment as the trial of the motor was postponed again due to Mr. Keely failing to prepare preparations in time.
Police Officer Thomas Redden is expected to be the sixth casualty from the Haymarket Square explosion on May 4. Doctors report blood poisoning has set in and fear he cannot survive.

In St Louis on the evening of May 16 an arson attempt targeted the East St. Louis approach to the bridge. A section nearly a mile long was smeared with a gasoline coal oil mixture. a watchman saw the slick at 9 o clock, trains halted, workers scrubbed the area, and investigators suspect a spark from a locomotive or engine aimed to ignite it.
Professor Jonathan Emery of William and Mary College reports locating the Washington County aerolite from September 14, 1885. It was found two miles north of Clayville on Frederick Miller’s farm, embedded in soil and is the largest on record. Its composition includes chromium nickel aluminum copper magnesium and tin.
Maprio May 17 reports Queen Christina has given birth to a son. At the palace, Cabinet Ministers, foreign representatives, civil and military magnates, Cortez members, and other distinguished figures gathered in response to the summons awaiting the accouchement.
In St Louis on May 17 Adel Vliet, a drunken intruder, broke into the home of Samuel Fetters, a crippled ex soldier. Fetters fought back but Nora Fetters, 17, shot Vliet in the head. Vliet died early this morning. Nora was placed under arrest.
Damage to fruits reported from Illinois Iowa Northern Indiana and Western Michigan after a heavy frost on May 16 17. Farmers fear corn stands not yet up as cold wave proves severe in several areas and heightens crop risk.

Two men were taken into custody in St Louis after allegations they devised a method to skim coins from street car cash boxes. One suspect had an instrument made of a strap with fitted zinc pieces that caught coins between the tins, enabling theft.
