San Francisco reporter C S Bradford recalls the death of Prince Ludwig Von Lowenstein killed during the Caloocan fight on March 26. A sightseer hidden in timber was hit by a bullet from an Oregon unit after an orderly warned the prince about his position. A passport signed by Aguinaldo was found on the body granting him entry to rebel lines. The prince had once served as an interpreter for Gen Miller but was deemed untrustworthy.
A May cyclone struck Canadian county Oklahoma causing extensive farmhouse destruction and crop damage. In Chickasha seventeen buildings were wrecked and fourteen people injured including J H Swab and John Teufel. D A Murray died from injuries after being trapped under timbers. Rain and washed out culverts accompanied the disaster affecting Ana Darko agency crops and cattle. John Head was killed as the cyclone crossed from the southwest a mile-wide track traversing four counties with its greatest impact in Canadian county.

A railway train with engines at both ends was sighted, attackers tore lengths of track, and steam aided the retreat. Rebel actions around Laguna de Bay and Cavite involved captures and disarrays as commanders pursued supplies and engagements with Spanish uniforms.
A Belt Line train from eastern Minnesota, with 40 ore cars and several box cars, crashed through a bridge over the Nemadji river in West Superior. Engineer Thos Quinn was crushed to death between engine and tender. Fireman Harry Miller suffered severe leg injuries but is expected to recover. The wreck dropped about 60 feet into the river, likely due to flood damage weakening the structure.

A large blaze at Russell & Co. mammoth thresher and engine plant in Massillon on Monday night razed 900 finished machines and caused $500,000 in damage. Albert Bamberger, a volunteer, was killed by a falling wall, and Christian L. Baatz was badly injured. Canton aided too late. crews labored under a collapsing wall as flames spread, with eight miles distant sparks seen in Canton.
In Br eem er Nebraska on May 9, Joseph Harnby and Mary Vlack were buried in the same grave after Mary, a farmer's daughter, killed herself believing she could not be cured. Harnby, engaged to Mary, visited the Viack home to see the bodies and entered the death chamber.
War department releases a dispatch from Manila dated May 8 describing General Lawton at Maasin and Baliuag with scouting north and east, General MacArthur at San Fernando, and a country between Manila and the north held by returning troops. River gunboats operate, insurgents cleared west of MacArthur, and signs of insurgent weakness grow clearer daily.
The Navy Department selected a commander to lead the Asiatic station. Orders detached Admiral Watson from Mare Island navy yard and sent him to Manila to relieve Dewey when he can be spared. Rear Admiral Kempff is currently on waiting orders.
Columbus police found a mutilated newborn baby in the rear of 26 North Garfield avenue on Monday morning. The body appeared to have been exposed for three to four days and had had its legs removed, with those limbs not yet recovered. The neighborhood is described as an aristocratic area. Authorities pursue leads.
A Lookout Mountain Incline Narrow Gauge Railway engine and a construction car plunged 300 feet from a cliff while repairing a trestle near Lookout Mountain. Superintendent Derrickson jumped but fractured three ribs. engineer, fireman, and trainmen escaped with non fatal injuries.

Several hundred Italian workers at the Jerome Park reservoir went on strike on Monday. The contractor J B McDonald requested police aid and 100 officers were dispatched to the site to restore order.
