Report from Parkersburg says Detective Baldwin and a armed posse entered the Wyoming and McDowell County wilds to break up a gang of about one hundred distillers. The posse was trapped after arresting thirty of the criminals, with lives reportedly in danger as the moonshiners, deseradoes for three years, defied federal authorities.
The boiler in Whitney & Tuttles saw mill at Pomp Wisconsin exploded destroying the mill and killing Otis Clement of Marinette and August Regel of Abrams. Fireman Frank Green and six workers including Julius Gokey Henry Dorey Frank Forcea and Philip Goodchild were badly hurt with some believed to die.
The Navy reports Cramp Brothers completed the gunboat Yorktown. Secretary Tracy will order the Naval Inspection Board to conduct a survey prior to deciding on formal acceptance or rejection.
In Coumbus, March 19, Marcus Hesse naur, two year old son of Charles Hessenaur, drank a quantity of concentrated lye from a cleaning can left unattended. Despite medical efforts, death is near certain.

At Bes semer Dennis Dorsey was shot and killed by D A James yesterday morning in a Birmingham rolling mill. The men had competed for the same woman and fought before James drew a pistol and killed Dorsey. James was arrested.
Sacramento report says Harry Holmes, held to answer on criminal guns charges, was found dead in his cell yesterday morning. He refused food for two weeks and starved himself to death despite nourishment attempts by physicians on Thursday and Friday.
Secretary Tracy will soon accept the gunboat Yorktown as trial trips prove satisfactory. After dynamos for electric light are installed the vessel will join the navy. The dynamite cruiser Vesuvius is expected to undergo further trials before acceptance.
In New York on March 18 Mrs Helena Brader aged 45 leaped from a fifth story window at 103 East Eighty Ninth Street and died. Her husband, wounded in the war, recently died at the Soldiers Home in Virginia. Brader’s mind became unsettled after bereavement.
The Caroline Maler from Hayti reports twelve of Legetime's soldiers captured by Hipployte were executed at Cape Haytien just before the steamer Miller sailed. The U S steamer Galena was anchored at Cape Haytien when the Miller departed.
On March 18 in New York Chief of Police Murray received an audacious note from the White Caps claiming they were in the city and would cause trouble. The Superintendent was reported to be in Florida.
An eleven year old son of farmer Jacob Barkly near Wooster, Ohio, recovered from hydrophobia after treatment using aconite chloral and soda. After severe paroxysms and rabies suspicion, physicians gave medicines to dull throat nerves, induce sleep, and counteract poison. Two weeks since last fit, he sits up, speaks clearly, and is deemed out of danger.
Washington March 16 Justice Stanley Matthews has been ill days and rallied but remains in critical condition The report says he will resign from the Supreme Bench and Judge Gresham will be appointed to succeed him before the court term ends in May The report cannot be verified due to Matthews health.
A Hollow Rock Tennessee residence owned by Wm Flowers burned last night. Flowers his wife and two children died in the flames. Neighbors saw the blaze but could not reach the house in time. Bodies were found charred. Suspicions point to robbery and murder followed by arson to hide the crime.
John Jackson a colored 18 year old cleaner on Water street in Binehampton fell sixty feet from a fifth floor window to basement engine area after slipping on a sash. He broke both legs and an arm landing on iron pipes then stone flagging. He is conscious and will live. He reportedly would not fall again for $15.
In Keyser Mineral County the youngest couple in West Virginia history tied the knot last night Chloe Poland aged thirteen and Joe Snow fourteen after four years of courtship and parental consent. The bride wore a short dress.
Mrs. S. E. Treece of Sand Mountain Chattanooga district died while trying to extinguish a burning fence. Her dress caught fire from the flames and burned off almost entirely. She made it to a spring to try to cool but could not reach safety and died about an hour later.
Washington March 16. Only one proposal for supplying machinery of the armored cruiser Maine then under construction at the New York yard. The bid came from Quintain Iron Company of New York with N F Palmer & Co. as agents and totaled 735000 dollars.
James Lafferty, a stock dealer from Wyoming County, was fatally ambushed on Rockville Creek Wednesday night, robbed of more than 31000. Police have no clues to the assailants or motive.
