A massive blast at Toledo Linseed Oil Company buildings destroyed three mills and nearby structures. Fire originates from a new patent process using naphtha for oil extraction with over one hundred barrels stored on site. Losses total about $130,000 with $90,000 insured for the new process mill. company plans immediate rebuilding and continued operation.
CarcaGo March 15. Key development in the Rock Island and Pacific express robbery case shows baggage man Watts under strict cross examination. Wygant's secretary failed to deliver notes, delaying the written record of Watts statements. Chicago reports two suspects arrested near Joliet after disguising farm work, while McDonald appeared disoriented with no usable notes.
In Toronto on March 12 a street car company attempted to move a car but was met by a large mob at the stables. Port Lane Mt March 11 The two Gambo Powder Company mills eleven miles away exploded this afternoon. A large stock of material was on hand. Clarence Clary of Gorham was killed and Henry Hooper was terribly mangled and cannot survive. The loss is heavy. Two years ago a blast at the same site killed three men.
In Jacksonville Orr Louis Oneil was hanged for the November 14 18S4 murder of Lewis McDaniel. New Orleans P H Ford and John Murphy were hanged in the parish prison for the December 1 18S4 murder of Captain A H Murphy. Both men appeared insensible and dying from poison self-administered the night before to escape.
In Ashland Kentucky on March 11 the press notes a new report claiming the true murderer of the Gibbons children has been found, but the note says the report is entirely false and lacking any truth. Citizens remain calm believing the killer has already been dealt with.
In Clarion and Lime Town two boiler blasts wounded or killed workers. At Hick's coal shaft on the Pittsburgh and Western railroad engineer William Banes and flat trimmer Joseph Elzener were buried. Elzener died soon after while Banes suffered severe injuries. At Lime Town the pumping boat boiler at Hilldale Coal Works fatally scalded engineer William Farre and damaged the boat.
In the State assembly of Knights of Labor yesterday a resolution was adopted to appoint a committee to confer with the grangers. The move is seen as paving the way for a practical fusion of the two groups, aligning farmers with the labor platform.
Cincinnati march 11 a meeting of street car drivers and conductors resolved to demand two dollars a day for twelve hours with extra work paid by the hour at the same rate and set a deadline for employer response by 10 o clock Saturday morning.

The 40 dollars were recovered and sent to Enoch Riggles of Plum Hollow Iowa, the rightful owner. The soldier’s $100 remains unlocated.

Lucius J Phelps of New York quietly obtained a patent in October for train telegraphing by induction using a wire along the track between two rails. Edisons method differs as it telegraphs from the car roof to pole wires.
In Hie Halland Illinois yesterday morning eight o'clock Albert T Miller’s little boy was left asleep when he reached for matches on the wash stand. The bed caught fire and the child’s limbs were burned severely, proving fatal this afternoon at four.
In Curiaco at mid March masked bandits on a Rock Island and Pacific express between Joliet and Morris fought the messenger, overpowered him, killed him, and robbed the car of about 25000 dollars. The crime is suspected to be by recently released Joliet penitentiary convicts who boarded at the stop.
Mrs Nellie Hickox of Niles Michigan hunted her husband who had deserted her. She spotted him on a St Paul street and signaled. He fled and she collapsed and died. The woman, rich at marriage, was said to be well connected.
