In Canton Ohio on March 1 Peixotto presented a portrait of Mrs McKinley to Major McKinley during private sittings with close friends. The gesture was informal and deeply appreciated by the major, with no subscribers present.

Mardi Gras carnival opened in New Orleans Monday with Rex arriving around 2 o clock after a river procession. A body guard of city military forces and police, aided by U S warships and regulars from Jackson Barracks, escorted Rex to City Hall where the mayor presented the keys to the city. Rex will rule the city for 48 hours with supreme authority.
In Detroit Michigan attorney Fred A Baker for Mr Moreland filed quo warranto papers to Attorney General Fred A Maynard challenging Mayor Pingree's claim to hold office. Maynard refused to sign them, citing unresolved legal matters before acting to compel the common council to call a mayoral election.
A deadly riot erupted in Knoxville Tennessee causing multiple casualties and widespread street turmoil. Authorities reported extensive violence on the city streets as clashes escalated, with injuries and a contested count of fatalities and arrests.

Fragmentary OCR describes suits over property in the Lockport basin. References Cincinnati Ice Co as defendant in one suit and Tin and Japan Co as defendant in another. Property described includes an area 220 by 90 feet on the eastside and Ninth streets.
In Toledo on Feb 37 the Ohio Association of Master Plumbers elected officers for the year. W. G. Wacher of Toledo was named president, C. H. Ware of Dayton vice president, E. P. Gruebe of Toledo secretary, and Willam Haley of Columbus treasurer. Delegates include E. J. Nolan of Cincinnati and John McVey of Lima with alternates Thomas Manion of Toledo and William Attlesey of Cincinnati. executive committee members Lewis Popolowsky of Cleveland and Raitz of Toledo. The next meeting will be in Dayton.

The faculty at Ohio State University on Feb 27 passed a resolution barring any person from representing the university in public athletic events unless they have been a student in good standing for six months. Students are also forbidden to enter contests where their opponents are not students in good standing at a college.
