In Crrcaco February 98 Justice Engelhardt who wed Nina Van Zandt by proxy to August Spies returned the marriage certificate to the county clerk today. The clerk stated he would not file the paper until he obtains legal advice on the matter.
Dispatch reports Mrs. Roxalana Druse was hanged in the county jail yard at noon. Only twenty seven spectators allowed by law attended. Her last moments were described as marked by rare fortitude.

Information from Gainesville, county seat of Ozark County, Missouri, reports that Friday night burglars blew open the safe in the Wood & Reed store and stole 13000 dollars belonging to the county plus several hundred dollars from individuals who had deposited funds for safekeeping.

Jos W Hesse aged 25 of 25 Disquith street committed to city jail on February 2% for disturbing the peace after defaulting on a one dollar fine and costs. This morning he tore up a prison cot sheet and hanged himself.
Wasixdton February 27. C E Egan, a young Ohio inventor, says he has perfected a system enabling vessels at sea to communicate with each other or land by the human voice, regardless of distance.
A Coal City Indiana family welcomes Nellie born February 25 1885 with eyes absent though eyelids lashes and tears glands are normal. She weighs eight and a half pounds and shows normal appetite health and playfulness despite blindness. Her touch guides recognition and she learns by felt objects.
Mrs Dunham, wife of the murdered man, lies convalescing and plans to testify. She recalls Plew entering the barn during evening chores, attacking her husband, then striking her herself. She heard her child’s scream and later found the child with its throat cut. Plew’s preliminary trial is postponed until she can provide a full statement.

Louis February 25 The Industrial Gazette reports a newly uncovered red hematite iron ore bed near Tuscaloosa Alabama sixteen feet thick analyzing sixty two and a half percent metallic iron. It is described as the most extensive and valuable deposit of its kind in the United States.
The will of George Hutchins of Ancora New York admitting probate at Camden follows a relatives’ challenge. Hutchins left thirty thousand dollars to Henry George for the dissemination of George writings. An amicable settlement with the heirs is anticipated.
