Washington Feb 28 The senate approved the German amendment to the army reorganization bill by unanimous vote 55 to 13. Negotiations are under way to sell the King Gilbert and Warner company steel plant in Columbus Ohio to a new company formed to control Bessemer steel plants nationwide. The Columbus plant, one of the west’s largest, includes three blast furnaces and a sizable steel mill and could make Columbus a major producing center if the deal closes.
George Burton Meeks, the first American killed in the Spanish American War, arrived in Clyde Ohio from Key West National Cemetery.
