An affliction lasting years with kidney problems and headaches improved after beginning Hunt's Remedy. After four bottles, the writer notes better walking, relief from pain, and no headaches, expressing gratitude and noting similar relief for his wife from siex attacks.
William G. Arnold of Providence Rhode Island reports severe back pain and rheumatism improved dramatically after three weeks of Hunt's Remedy. He claims elimination of pains and weakness and anticipates a complete cure, endorsing the product for kidney or liver disease.
Special Revenue Agent Horton refused resignation, noting it would imply guilt, and was dismissed. Other items include a flour firm from New York sentenced for embezzlement, theft of a state ledger in Nashville tied to Polk, and various local accidents and crimes with brief outcomes.
Treasury reports that counterfeit twenty dollar gold pieces described as "filled" have appeared in Tennessee and other Southern regions, prompting warnings to banks and the public about authenticating gold coins and avoiding loss from deceptive fakes.

Four harvesters boarded a freight train at Whitehall Illinois on the 11th to steal a ride. At the station four more men joined, drew revolvers after the train started, and forced the first group to surrender their money before pushing them from the moving car. Patrick Knight was killed in the fall. The four attackers were arrested at Brighton the next morning.
Edward Banks, a colored hotel waiter, sues C. V. T. Okenberg for 250 dollars alleging blood money. Okenberg was found unconscious from gas poisoning in February, and eight ounces of Banks blood were transfused to save his life. Banks says he was promised ten cents a drop, while Okenberg claims he paid five dollars to settle all claims.
W. J. Kouitz the manager and John B. Kennedy editor of the Allegheny Evening Mail were convicted on the 12th of criminal libel. Peter Walker Jr a member of the Allegheny City Council acted as prosecutor. The article accused Walker of using his office for personal gain.
The State Veterinarian of Illinois reports glanders widespread in nineteen counties. He says he faced pressure not to euthanize affected horses, while attorneys argue such action requires a gubernatorial proclamation. The Attorney General is expected to issue an opinion on the veterinarian’s legal powers under state law.
A blast of five hundred pounds? wait. Twenty five hundred pounds of powder exploded in Dupont's Powder Works press room in Wilmington Delaware on the 18th. Foreman Thomas Pearl and laborer Patrick Haley were killed. Alexander Billingsley and another laborer were slightly injured.
The Saloon-keepers' Association of Kansas City vows to comply with the Downing law on high license and Sunday closing but warns it will push for enforcement of the Sunday law against all other businesses if required to close. The group represents about three fourths of the city’s saloon keepers.
William H. Sinclair and Samuel B. Halliden, formerly clerks with Lang Robinson, were sentenced after being found guilty of dishonest conduct. The court imposed penalties appropriate to their roles in the alleged scheme and related financial improprieties.
Milwaukee dispatch reports Mrs Grace Courtland of Chicago known as the Witch of Wall Street tonight cowhided Will C Jones of Milwaukee aged twenty five, accusing him of seducing her daughter Maggie. Jones endured severe wounds across face neck and shoulders as the daughter accompanied her mother.
The seven day report to R G Dun and Co shows 150 business failures, up from 138 last week. Canada accounted for 33, the United States 126, with New England 15, Western States 42, Middle 15, Southern 28, Pacific States and Territories 41, New York 7, and Canada 83.
The steamship Niagara of the Cuban mail line en route New York to Havana ran aground off Florida on the 13th. Vessel and cargo are total losses, but all passengers were saved.
A stone quarry near Lemont Illinois reports four workers killed when a derrick used to raise a three ton block collapsed after guy ropes snapped. The timbers fell into a crowd of about fifty, instantly killing John Cash Andrew Hansen John Kahlman and Thomas Ward. It marks a second similar accident in one week.
A dispatch to President Jones of the New Orleans Board of Health on the 13th reports three cases of yellow fever on the bark Atlanta which arrived at Ship Island from Vera Cruz. Three vessels towed from Pensacola also had yellow fever on board.
A heavy burglary at the Wm Weaver store in Montoursville Pennsylvania occurred a few nights ago. The thief stole 2000 in Catawissa Railroad bonds 30000 in securities 600 in checks and 200 in cash from the premises.
Frederick Smith of Tonawanda New York a large lumber dealer is said to be solvent but creditors are reported unable to realize twenty five cents on the dollar. He left home two weeks ago and is rumored to have fled to avoid arrest.
A deadly blaze swept Cockato, Minn., on the 14th destroying three fourths of the town, mainly the business district. The principal hotel housed about twenty laborers and guests. three laborers burned to death and another broke a leg leaping from a window. The loss is estimated at 60000 dollars.
State Senator Barnett Gibbs of Dallas returns from Mexico and, in an interview, asserts Crook’s campaign failed as Apaches captured him and allowed his departure. Gibbs says Crook’s guides were two faced and betrayed him, permitting Apache return to the reservation without punishment.
A malignant measles outbreak at St Marys Industrial School in Baltimore affects about 450 boys with ten deaths reported in three days. Public health authorities investigate and monitor the situation as the facility braces for containment.
Aged Mrs. Phelps, Mrs. Phelps Jr., and her two year old daughter died at the Lackawanna Railroad crossing in Roanoke New York on the 14th. Their horses also perished in the accident.

Mrs J P Jacobs of Kansas City hanged herself on the 13th after poisoning, following two prior attempts, linked to the death of her husband. Thomas Whitehead, a farmer, dined with Andy Francis near Waynes.
The American Consul at Callao General Moore died on the 12th from yellow fever in a colonial era notification.
A Hong Kong dispatch dated the 12th reports Tonquin in archy. The French have captured and hanged many marauders who hovered about and fired on outposts. Despite this, the bands continue to fire on outposts nightly.
A large fire near Pesth Hungary on the 11th caused multiple deaths with eight corpses recovered from the ruins. Twenty people including the police prefect remain missing as the blaze left many homeless.
In northern Spain several police officers were suddenly arrested amid reports they face conspiracy charges. The detentions signal a widening probe into possible collusive activity within local security forces.

In Titusville Pennsylvania a excursion train carrying about seventy five Masonic lodge members collided with a Buffalo and Southwestern freight two miles from Jamestown at two am. Conductor George Gates and freight brakeman M D Colby died. Brakeman W J Innis fatally injured. Engineers and firemen escaped unharmed. The crash wrecked both engines and many freight cars. The cause cited is freight engine operator disobeying orders.
