John L. Sullivan and Charles Johnson were arrested on a Mississippi governor's requisition when their train arrived in Nashville. A revolver was brandished, causing their surrender. Judge McAllister ruled the arrest invalid without a warrant and non extraditable, releasing Sullivan and Johnson.
A mob of about 150 masked men overpowered the sheriff in Iuka Mississippi and seized Prince Luster a Black man accused of seducing a white girl. He confessed on the bandstand before being killed on the public square.
Columbus July 12. Governor Lowry telegraphed Governor Foraker to stop Sullivan in Cincinnati after his Nashville release. Kilrain party also being sought by police in Louisville and Indianapolis after they left the train at Seymour Indiana last evening.
London reports that Mr Gladstone and Mr Morley approved the Tenant Defense League with Mr Parnell to be president. The league aims to raise funds to provide legal aid for tenants against combining landlords and to keep rents paid through proper channels.
Paris reports the Senate adopted the Panama Canal Relief bill with an added clause requiring return to the Chamber of Deputies for adoption. The measure now awaits approval in the lower chamber before becoming law.

An Ohio man Dupont Bell in Circleville claims to be the New Messiah in Liberty County Georgia. He proclaims Judgment Day on August 16 and promises wings to his followers with a $5 price per pair. Local authorities consider quietly removing him to Savannah to prevent unrest.

A mob of about 180 men entered La Fayette and freed Felix Keyes from the parish jail. Keyes, who murdered his wife near Carenceco with a throated axe blow after a jealousy dispute, was escorted back to the crime scene and executed. The incident involved roughly 150 white and 30 colored participants.
In Knoxville Tennessee on July 13 a human skeleton was found while blasting on the belt railroad. The bones were secured between rocks and are believed to be those of Wilburn Walker a prominent citizen who vanished twelve years ago with a large sum of money.
London July 13. Secretary for War Stanhope told the House of Commons the Egyptian invaders under Nadeljumi numbered about 6,000 men and 800 camels. They advanced 32 miles north of Wady Halfa. He doubted local welcome. Troops are to be sent from Malta to Egypt.
In Mount Morris New York on July 13 an immense flow of oil erupted when tubing was removed from salt well No 2 at the Royal Salt Company plant. The well, in use nearly three years, was shut after a sample was secured and will be tested.
Earthquakes shake the Los Olivos district in San Luis Obispo County over several days. Six distinct shocks were felt on Sunday with the severest at three o clock yesterday morning. Residents grow more alarmed as the tremors continue.

Reading Pa dispatch confirms Revolutionary Soldier Arthur Carrington died in 1778 after being imprisoned in a cave. A bottle with his death manuscript was found by W W Potts, and his Richmond correspondent links Virginia Randolph’s death to revolutionary era traditions. Remains will be sent to Richmond to lie beside Miss Randolph.
Cincinnati reports a broken brake near Eichler's Garden caused a cable car to derail and panic. Mrs Frank Telgate died instantly. several others suffered severe injuries. Another incident at Mt Auburn electric road saw a car run off track and drop fifteen feet but no injuries occurred.
Bellaire Ohio July 15 a young couple cousins out driving a dog cart were struck by a B and O fast freight train when the horse jumped on the track. The young man Thomas Fulton was instantly killed and carried nine miles to Bellaire before discovery on the engine pilot. Miss Ella Ault died a few hours after. A brother of Fulton was seriously hurt while trying to stop the horse.
A severe storm yesterday afternoon caused multiple deaths and extensive damage across Baltimore Hartford and Carroll Counties. Cattle drowned farm buildings and crops were destroyed while Maryland Central railroad and other lines suffered heavy washouts.
A Newark report states preparations are under way to form a leather syndicate or trust in the city, already the hub of patent leather production with nine-tenths of U S supply made there. Upon the return of George A. Halsey and Samuel Howell from Europe the trust will commence operation.

Paris reports that M. Belz, secretary of the Boulangist Committee at Marseilles, fatally shot M. Pierrotti editor of Le Petit Provencal in a duel. Pierrotti was an Opportunist newspaper figure. The duel occurred today in Marseilles amid political tension in France.
