A massive blaze leveled the Ocher Process Co plant in Niagara Falls on February 26, with losses estimated at at least 800000. Electrician Henry S. Fairchild was killed when a wall collapsed as flames tore through the facility, injuring others. Falling debris cut power to the Georgia Railroad and local industries. the cause was gasoline ignition from a pipe feeding a furnace. Buffalo firefighters halted the conflagration, but about 500 workers lost their jobs as production halted.
