Based on New York Hospital records Emma Uhler died of morphine poisoning on February 15. The case links her to the shooting of broker Wilbur H. Haverstick in March last year at Paris Flats in West Twenty third Street. Conkling, her brother, restrained the scene and shot Haverstick after a dispute. Lincolnton North Carolina February 15 a flock owned by Ed Campbell was attacked by mad dogs over several weeks. A dog killed one ewe and others followed biting sheep without killing. Today three more showed madness and cooling efforts. It is feared fifty to sixty sheep will have to be killed.
Dispatches sent to Ways and Means Chairman Morrison urging quick passage of the bonded spirits extension bill are boxed into pamphlets for senators and representatives. Telegrams from bankers and merchants in Louisville Cincinnati Chicago St Louis Peoria Pittsburg and Omaha lead by Kentucky Governor J Proctor Knott.
Pursto Co reports a stage missing on the Oroville to Quincy route. It departed Oroville on January 27 and has not been heard from. A relief party began last Sunday but found no trace. Authorities fear a snow slide buried the wagon and all passengers. Big Summit snow depths reached ten feet, Little Summit six.

Washington February 13 The House Committee on Public Lands agreed to report bills declaring the forfeiture of land grants on the Onatonagon and Brule River segments of the Marquette and State Line and Marquette Houghton and Ontonagon Railroads. Rights of cash and homestead entries to be protected with preference to these. About two hundred thousand acres are in the forfeiture.
The Mississippi River Improvement Commission in St Louis is arranging routine matters and allotting the $1,000,000 appropriated by Congress. They have allocated $400,000 for Plum Point reach and Lake Providence, $90,000 for Memphis, $50,000 for general service, and smaller sums for minor points.
The steamer W P Halliday of the New Orleans Anchor Line burned to the water's edge at four this morning near St Louis. Private watchman Matt Ibrown was aboard and sustained severe burns. He was hospitalized at City Hospital. Loss estimated near $100.

In Torsnot North Carolina on February 18 Charles Peele of Wilson County became distraught over religion. He retrieved $1200 from his trunk, prayed, and burned the money, with $700 in bills destroyed before onlookers halted the loss. $500 in coin was saved.
In St Louis on February 18 the Supreme Court ruled the granite street rebuild ordinance constitutional. The decision endorses using property fronting the streets to fund central district paving, promising a surge in granite reconstruction and an estimate that half the city will be paved within two years.
