A tramp Nelson sought shelter at Andrew Shreffler’s Rockville Township home. After requesting footwear, he injured Mrs. Shreffler with kerosene oil and struck her with a skillet and flat iron, fracturing her skull. She died next morning. Nelson is jailed awaiting trial as passions run high in the community.
Ottawa February 16 Speaker Miller of the Senate has issued an order excluding all visitors including the press from adjacent rooms to the chamber regardless of their errand. Reports say he fears dynamite threats.

Meapville Pa February 15 W H Andrews jun twenty one of Titusville was crushed between the floor and the elevator of the Brunswick Hotel. He was boarding there with his father and mother and his death was instantaneous. He was highly respected and connected and his loss is deeply regretted.
Hostixeoor Pa February 15 an east bound Pennsylvania Railroad freight train derailed near Birmingham due to a broken flange. Sixteen cars were demolished twelve loaded with stock. Two hundred sheep eighty hogs and several horses were killed in the wreck.
