C T and James Davidson were hurt and P D Lee was bruised. The Helena Rolling Mill roof was taken off and the storm possibly crossed toward Talladega.
The north-bound Burlington Cedar Rapids and Northern train derailed near Randalia Iowa breaking the three cars and engine from a six foot embankment. The mail car caught fire and burned all the cars as steam spread. About twenty five passengers were shaken badly with several seriously hurt but no fatalities. Physicians from West Union and Fayette assisted the injured.
The Ways and Means chairman read a State Treasurer communication showing a cash balance of $65,000. The Investigating Committee reports ex-Treasurer Woodruff’s first-term accounts are $16,000 short. Three more terms remain to be overhauled.
