A west bound Pennsylvania freight in Bucyrus Ohio broke in two near dawn and rejoined, destroying five coal cars a tank of oil a car of gasoline and a car of queensware. An oil car exploded causing intense flames. One colored tramp burned to death and three others riding the oil car are missing. Firemen fought the blaze as burning coal spread along 300 feet of the double track.
Mor ris Newman of Pittsburgh, an architect, was found unconscious in a Cleveland bound box car at Allliance. He later revived enough to say two men from Cleveland tried to rob him. they beat him with coupling pins. He is dying. three tramps have been arrested on suspicion.
Newark report notes acreage dropped from 44,672 to 36,621 this season while estimated yield rises to about 22 bushels per acre. Total bushels appear to increase despite less land sown, with the crop described as excellent by authorities.

Preparations began Wednesday for the annual East Ohio Methodist conference to be held in Waser starting September 19. The district covers more than eight tenths of the state, extending across a large portion of the region.
