Four occupants were killed including Hattie Frits and her two children plus Amanda Frits. Driver John Fennemacher was badly hurt and not expected to survive. Bodies brought to Reading. coroner's inquest to be held.
Hastines Nebraska July 29 James McCon lay received the body of his only son Hugh who had been reported killed in the St Thomas Ontario accident two weeks earlier. Relatives followed the grave but Wednesday the father learned his son walked in alive and well exposing the misdirected burial of a young Canadian.
New York July 29 The largest steam boat in the world will be built for the Fall River line. It will be named the Puritan and measure 404 feet long at the water line. The vessel will boast 355 staterooms and all modern improvements. Costing 1.5 million pounds, it is due for completion in May 1580.
In Petersburg on July 29, 1900, Reuben Coles, a Black man accused of a criminal assault on Mrs. Savage in Surrey County two weeks earlier, was dragged from his cell Wednesday night and lynched after Mrs. Savage identified him.
Augusta Georgia faced severe flooding with half the city submerged as the Savannah River rose above flood levels. A canal breach alarm sparked panic though the damage appeared less than feared, with losses estimated at 25,000 for the city, 50,000 for citizens, and about 1.5 million to farmers along the river.

Mrs Anna Snoots wife of Howard Snoots is under arrest in Adamsville Ohio on suspicion of poisoning her three year old daughter. Three other children died suddenly and authorities believe they were poisoned in a possible serial case.
In Indianapolis on July 31 the Attorney General issued an opinion to the State Auditor favorable to Lieutenant Governor Robertson’s claim for per diem salary and mileage during the legislative session when he was not allowed to preside.

A mountain dam burst near Winkesbarre Pennsylvania floods Parsons causing deaths and widespread destruction. A girl Annie Quinn drowned, five bridges washed away, 500 feet of Jersey Central track torn out, and rail traffic halted. Coal cars and track damaged, Ash street houses washed away, railroad losses about 395000. One and a half miles of track swept away, 100 workers mobilized to repair the Delaware and Hudson line.
James Martin aged seventeen fell from the Brooklyn Bridge while carrying a pail of color near the south track. He plunged about fifty feet west of center, struck the water, and was rescued by a fireman from the tug William Cox who recovered him and took him to Chambers Street Hospital with only a slight chest pain and no serious injuries.

Caicaco reports Dr. St. John the owner of the schooner Blake was arrested at the breakfast table by Inspector Banfield. He appeared before a magistrate, posted bail of 20,000 with D. B. Fisk as surety. St. John's alleged assistant Dr. Dell was not molested.
In PortsMouth H O Aug 1 the jury returned a verdict of murder in the second degree. A motion for a new trial was filed and will be heard next Monday. Initial ballot split five for manslaughter five for murder in second degree and two for murder in first degree.
Judge Shepard overruled a new trial petition in the McDonald and McGarigle conspiracy case and sentenced Edward S. McDonald to three years in the penitentiary. The arrest of judgment motion was denied as well.
