Boston April 12 A sailboat carrying ten farm school boys and their instructor capsized between Spectre and Thompson Islands after a squall. The instructor A E Nordberg and eight boys perished. two boys survived. The boat left at 6 30 pm for City Point and capsized after 7 pm. The victims include Nordberg Hitchcock Thatcher Ellis Phillips Gurran Graves Loud Packard. Surviving: George W Clements and Charles Limb. Superintendent Bradley notified authorities and a diver was hired to recover bodies. only drowning accident for the school since 1842.

Two drownings reported and several rescue parties upset. trains washed out and rail lines severed. Communication with outside world cut for days while waters recede and flood conditions shift.
