Miss Mattie Overton was arrested and held without bail for the murder of her two weeks old child found dead in a private lying-in hospital. The infant’s body bore 23 needle piercings. She traveled from Pittsburg Indiana and claimed J L McVay betrayed her. she allegedly bought the child for five dollars to claim as his offspring.
