European-born population in the US reaches 13.5 million

The National Geographic Society reports one in seven Americans is foreign born, totaling 13.5 million from Europe. It compares the US foreign born populace to Belgium plus Holland, and notes large German, Irish, Italian and Russian communities, plus 19 million immigrant children and other regional parallels.
