Realtors Conclave Slated in Miami Beach for Florida Realtors

Venice Area Board of Realtors members will join the Florida Association of Realtors 51st annual convention September 21 to 23 in Miami Beach. Eight guest speakers including Rep Edward J. Gurney will address 11 500 members on the 90th Congress and Florida’s economic future. The program also features educational sessions for farm and land brokers appraisers property managers and sales associates with Florida Realtor of the Year and Associate of the Year to be announced.

Venice area chamber approves five nominees for vacancies

Venice area chamber of commerce board approves five director nominees for three upcoming vacancies at the September meeting. A sixth nominee was approved but not yet contacted. Outgoing directors, at large terms, and a new drapery purchase are noted along with festival dates and committee appointments.

Two 13 Year Olds Charged In Venice School Break-Ins

Police arrest two 13 year old boys after a spree of break ins at Venice High Venice Elementary and Venice Junior High during June July. They are charged with breaking and entering and destruction of property and later admitted to the incidents after being taken to the Venice Shopping Center. Authorities say items stolen included keys to vending machines and doors and that one break in at the high school involved vandalism with food and liquid spills.

Venice High School ground out 406 yards rushing to crush North Fort Myers 35-0 in Coral Coast Conference action. Ron Jones scored twice, Schepp Dunaway and Drawdy added rushing TDs, Rolfs kicked five extra points as Venice did not punt or fail on downs.

Absentee Ballots Available for Sarasota School Bond Vote

Absentee ballots for the Sept 26 school bond issue are available until 3 p.m. Sept 25 from Sarasota County supervisor Mary Orr. Voters must be registered freeholders. re-registration ended Aug 26. Ballots must be returned by 5 p.m. Sept 25, either in person or by mail, with proof of property ownership.

License Changes Outlined in Sarasota County

Miss Charlie Hagerman, Sarasota County tax collector, outlined changes in state and county occupational licenses. New owners must notify within 30 days, a 50 cent transfer fee applies to ownership or location changes, retail licenses shift to the county office, restaurant seating rules updated, drive ins face a $30 license, and the county judge's 25 cent fee on beverage and occupational licenses is eliminated. First National Bank of Venice Declares Eighth Cash Dividend

First National Bank of Venice paid its eighth cash dividend of 25 cents per share on its common stock to stockholders of record at close of business August 31, 1967. William C. Payne, president, expressed the board’s gratification at paying this dividend, the bank’s eighth in 21 months.

Ad Expert Predicts Livelier TV Season in 1967

A former advertising executive predicts Venice area residents will switch TV dials this fall as 27 new shows premiere. He notes more realistic dramas and diverse entertainment plus over 200 network specials, with stars like Danny Thomas and Eve Arden leading a four star fall lineup. Viewers face choosing among many rival programs to maximize nightly entertainment.

Adult Education Plans Grow in South County

Coordinator Harry Holland announced plans for adult education in at least 13 subjects in South County after sufficient interest is shown. Courses include shorthand Spanish astronomy German creative writing modern math art typing sewing public speaking stenography machine biology and speech writing. High school diploma courses run smoothly and beginner and intermediate Spanish classes are available at Venice branch Sarasota Federal Savings and Loan. For information call 488 6726 after 6 30 pm.
