In North Port Charlotte Florida voters ousted Mayor Franklyn W. Wagner by 367 to 338 in favor of Harry E. Brown a first time candidate. Commissioner Walter L. Cosman Sr.lost to Carl B. Meyer 389 to 303 a Meyer ally of local civic groups. Commissioner John McCrork won reelection 359 to 288 over Andrew A. Kolb. Brown and Meyer take office at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Two Monday crashes caused light damage totaling 95 dollars with no injuries. Florida trooper C H Baker Jr charged William M Smith 81 Venice with failure to yield after Smith pulled onto US 41 striking Sterling H Hewitt 64 Milwaukee. Hewitt's car 40 dollar damage, Smith 10. In the second incident Robert E Payne 70 Marshall Indiana backed from a spot on West Venice Avenue hitting Imogene Redmond 74 Mars Pennsylvania. Redmond's car 45 damage, Payne none. No charges filed.
