Venice Circus Red Unit Opens Bicentennial Edition
The Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Red Unit rehearses in Venice for a Feb 9 to 11 six performance run celebrating Americas 200th birthday. As January 31 nears, Wedgwood Restaurant builds a 27 foot Freedom Train for the Venice parade. The route runs 2 p.m. from West Venice Avenue to Venice High School stadium, with a 3 p.m. arrival. Tickets to the stadium show cost 3.50, and Gunther Gebel-Williams will perform a Ringling Circus act during the parade segment.

Venice Parks Board approves matching grant for West Venice Avenue work
Venice will receive a 16170 federal grant to complete beautification of three West Venice Avenue park medians. The funds, added to 45000 on hand, finance irrigation and bicycle paths as construction began last week. Paul Atrochin announced the grant at a parks and recreation board meeting.

Grandsons drown in Duluth pond accident
Adam Troy Archanbauth five and Derrick Robert Archanbauth six died after breaking through ice on a pond near their Duluth home. Their mother, a Venice area native, and father Gary Archanbauth are neighboring residents. Grandfather Edgar Bahret traveled to Duluth for the funeral and to support his daughter.
