Venice youths win trips to visit White House and graves

Two Venice area students win essay contests and will travel to Washington this weekend. Dennis Christofferson, Venice High School senior, and Kelly A. Cecil, Venice Junior High eighth grader, will place wreaths at Arlington Cemetery and Mt. Vernon, meet congressmen and senators, tour the White House and Capitol, and be hosted by Joseph F. Belfiore with funding from the Bicentennial Committee and local pin sales. Chaperone is Ellen Kansman. transportation and lodging are arranged and funded, with Ewing Funeral Home handling airport transport.

Residents rally for legal aid as mobile home residents win injunction

Harbor Lights residents collect 6422 dollars from District 8 mobile park residents to help cover legal fees in a suit against park owner Herbert Hofmann. In Sarasota Judge Harry Parham denied the dismissal motion, issued an injunction against evictions and extra rent, and required bonds. The State Federation of Mobile Home Owners loaned 6400 dollars toward the cost bond. about 75 residents attended the Venice Isles meeting.
