This morning is sunny with increasing afternoon clouds and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Showers and thunderstorms may arrive tonight ending Sunday morning, then partial cloud cover. Medina planners and the Board of Education discussed saving open space in the Forestview Estates subdivision for a school site. The board will speed up its district development study and seek a land appraisal while the commission assists with parking signs.
Ashland College continues its on the road Saturday Senior College at Medina Community Center with four summer courses. Mathematics 103 and Business 410 run June 3 to July 15, mornings and afternoons respectively, followed by Economics 231 and English 235 July 22 to Sept 2. Medina extends wheat and feed grain set asides to May 31 and final reporting for fall seeded small grains to June 30 due to late spring. Target price for wheat rises to 3.40 per bushel affecting potential deficiency payments. Office hours 8 a.m. to 4 30 p m, in the Federal Building at 143 W Liberty St.
The National Labor Relations Board ruled that rural route and bundle drop drivers for The Gazette are not employees. Bernard Levine, regional director, decided against the United Paperworkers International Union on May 8. The union did not appeal by the deadline, and Gazette General Manager Stuart Borden stated the decision confirms there was no employment relation.
Medina candidates for county commissioner will discuss issues at a public election forum Monday at 7 30 a m at Hale's Restaurant Public Square. The event is open to all residents.
