Ohio State tourism chief cites ad spend value for state
Ohio Tourism Director Phil DeVore argues $1 million annually for ads would help Ohio shed its pass-through image while his 1976 travel spend reached $3.2 billion. An OSU study finds Ohio ranks 48th in state financed travel promotion and exports more tourists than it attracts. DeVore notes $90,000 spent this year with $100,000 planned for 1979, targeting bus tours and broader research on travel economics across Ohio.
