Weymouth Valley Country Club outlines a 40 by 80 foot expansion with basement locker rooms and a lounge on the first floor. The project aims to replace the present pro shop area with cart storage and maintenance, with a hoped completion in early September.
Brunswick track team defeated visiting Cleveland Hawkins 99-28 with 11 first places and both relays. Don Forbes led in shot put with 44 feet 9 inches. Greg Ashworth cleared 11 feet to win pole vault. Mike Mangan won high jump, with Jeff Fitz and Steve Soulchin second and third.
Norwayne baseball defeated Akron St. Vincent 6-5 to win the Buckeye Sectional and earn advancement to district play. Phil Rowe pitched a complete game, allowing two walks and recording three strikeouts. Norwayne advances to face the Westlake Sectional lower bracket winner.
Brunswick teams posted top marks as Gager set a stadium 440 dash record at 55.2 seconds and Bukszar 880 with 2:06.6. Mark Hunter won the mile in 4:44.4, Shick led the two mile with 10:59.6, and Brunswick crews won relays 1:39.8 and 3:48.1. The Blue Devils stand 6-1 and head to Elyria for the sectional.

Black River golf teams placed third at Oberlin Country Club as Rittman won with 360 strokes and Columbia second. Individual medalist was Rittman’s John Pereira with 82 while River’s Randy Johnson shot 83. In the Rolling Acres triangular, Black River defeated Mapleton and Seneca East, helping a 6-3-1 season mark.
Medina Bees erased a 5-1 advantage as Fairview Rocky River rallied to beat Medina 9-5. Ken Weisbarth delivered a three run homer in the decisive rally while Bob Gordon was touched for all nine runs in relief losses. Clevidence and Crouse each had two hits for Medina in the setback. Bees face Highland tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Medina County Tournament action.
