Buckeye Board approves appropriations totaling 1 557 874 for 1972 with salaries 1 087 769 the largest share. Other items include 8 200 for supplies and 992 300 for the lunch room fund. Bonds total 84 637 50 for 1972 and 123 986 10 for building retirement. Board upholds one Baccalaureate ceremony and adopts 1972-73 calendar from county superintendents.
The U S Army Recruiting Station at 43 Public Square Medina holds grand opening ceremonies starting at 1 p m with a flag presentation to County Commissioners, a flag-raising, and a National Anthem by the Medina High School band. A ribbon cutting and open house follow, weather permitting.
The Ohio House approved a May 2 ballot measure by 61 to 29 to place a state lottery constitutional amendment before voters. If the Senate approves, it would end the ban on all lotteries while supporters cite potential 115 million dollars in annual revenue. opponents call it a tax on the poor.
Rep. William G. Batchelder of Medina opposes the proposed constitutional amendment to repeal Ohio’s lottery ban, arguing lotteries fail to raise funds and will invite loan sharks and broader gambling. He voted against the amendment despite its House approval.
Deputy Registrar Mary Murray says plates go on sale tomorrow March 16 at Boone's Corners Sleepy Hollow and Pearl Roads office in the south end of the building. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Call 225-6206 with problems.
