Medina storm causes extensive damage and power outages
A severe Thursday storm hit Medina with heavy rain and winds up to 85 mph. Damage reached about 350000, mainly on the commercial north side, with Buehler's Market roof and insulation torn off and debris scattered near the Grant City Store. Power lines and 300 phones suffered outages as GTE crews worked to restore service. Fire and police responded to flooded basements, motel wiring sparks, and flooded streets, while highway water blocked Rt 42 and Rt 18.

Licensing of builders poses many problems
Brunswick report notes licensing rules for builders, requiring five years in the field, a $5,000 bond, and a notarized application. Board members Ralph Grunau and Felix Theys say license should not be refused for potential poor work if the code is met, amid complaints about Bennett Builders and Cherry Lane homes.
