Ohio Senate keeps 55 mph speed limit permanent
The Ohio Senate voted 23 to 5 to make the 55 mph speed limit permanent after June 30 to secure federal highway funds, moving the measure on an emergency basis despite objections by State Sen. Van Meter. The proposal now goes to the House, which previously blocked the emergency clause. Senate action also included nonconcurrence on a House amendment about sprinkler deadlines and approval of continued state employee group life insurance rates after sick leave is exhausted.
