University of Chicago researchers aim to isolate prolucagon from 100 pounds of beef pancreases to slow glucagon production and stabilize blood sugar. If successful in three months, findings could lead to better diabetes treatments and a safer hormonal approach than current insulin injections.
At the Third World Conference on Smoking and Health in New York researchers described nicotine gum as highly promising for helping smokers quit. Swedish doctors cited blood nicotine levels similar to cigarettes but noted the gum can hook some users while it may ease quitting by reducing mouth and lung smoking.
State Auditor Thomas E. Ferguson announced that ADC for June in Medina County totaled 55 839 dollars. statewide May figures show a 12 case drop and a 47 745 dollar decrease in total payments.
