Martha Marie Schroeder of 7401 Lake Road Chippewa Lake died Saturday at home. Funeral services were today at Parker Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Robinson officiating. Burial followed at Chatham cemetery. Survived by three daughters, four sons, 27 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. husband Walter preceded her in 1968. She was born in Cleveland and lived in Chatham Township before moving seven years ago to Chippewa Lake. member of Chatham United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary and Chippewa Lake Grandmothers Club.

Top honors went to Gloryland Holsteins of Lodi for grand champion bull, David Tait of Lodi for junior champion female, and James Hanna of Ashland for grand champion cow.

Bank robbery attempt ends with partial surrender and prison
Alan Dowers entered a Ash ville bank with a toy pistol demanding 12,500 dollars. After receiving 2,000 dollars he fled but returned the money saying he could not escape. The cashier alerted police and Dowers was sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Old Bailey.
