Gasoline tax proposal to fund Ohio transportation plan
Ohio Senator Robert R. Shaw proposes a two cent increase per gallon to raise about 102 million dollars yearly for urban and intercity transportation. The plan would create the Ohio Transportation Commission to unify assets and issue bonds for bus rail marine aviation and parking programs and merge existing authorities into the new body. Local costs would drop by about 36 million as state assumes highway bridge upkeep and urban transit studies with lower city shares of federal projects.
