The inaugural Memorial LightFest along Park Drive in Wadsworth showcased 82 trees sponsored by local organizations and businesses. The free display runs 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through January 2, with a kickoff event featuring choirs and refreshments.

National Guard families celebrate holidays at armory
Medina Ohio National Guard families gathered Sunday at the local armory for an annual holiday party hosted by Armory Cmdr. Zach Ellifritz who noted the event honors soldiers and their families with food gifts and fellowship. With more than 110 soldiers in the unit the maintenance company supports vehicles weapons and radios. Ellifritz who began as a platoon leader in 2014 returned in February and said the armory feels like family. Families from Maryland and other parts of Ohio attended to thank the troops for service and acknowledge the high demand on soldiers and their loved ones alike.

Turnpike toll rates rise on January 1 in 2025
The Ohio Turnpike Authority announces toll increases effective January 1 2025 for E Z Pass and cash card payments. Class 1 passenger vehicles rise to 7.1 cents per mile and 10.4 cents per mile for cash. Class 5 commercial vehicles rise to 22 and 27 6 cents per mile respectively. A west bound full trip for 241 miles costs 18 50 with E Z Pass and 27 with cash.
