Kentucky native paints new faces on world masterpieces
New York artist Tom Lohre, a Kentucky native, recreates famous portraits by inserting real faces into Masterworks. He began with Rembrandt's Duke of Orange and Van Dyck's Marchesa Durazzo, later offering commissions from 500 to 1000 dollars. Lohre aims for authentic color and form, arguing his work is art not a gimmick.
