Medina Two voters face fire levy in full
Medina Township trustees approve a 2-mill five year fire protection levy for the November ballot. The measure would raise about 64 000 to 77 800 over the period with a 5.5 percent tax increase to fund a township fire department replacing the old contract with Medina. Fire Chief Don Maletz and assistant Tom Krepp estimate initial capital of 133 240 and operating costs of 21 500, including 40 000 for a building. 31 residents volunteered, aiming for 35. The levy would allow a 125 000 startup loan in the first year. A request for 21 cent per capita RPC dues was deferred to next year.
