Jobs gain offsets slower hiring in July labor market
Health care firms added 63,000 jobs in July while temporary help fell by 22,000 and factory payrolls dropped 2,000. SVS Group owner Eugene Lupario notes signs of a slowdown as rates bite, yet restaurants and bars still hire. Some nurses once paid 100 an hour now see 75 to 85, reflecting easing post pandemic pay while job openings stay high but retreat. Economists foresee a gradual soft landing as Fed aims to cool demand without triggering recession.
