Brunswick Patriots raise funds for upcoming parades
The Brunswick Patriots baton corps grossed 472.42 over weekend fundraisers and plan two public appearances: this Saturday August 5 at the Akron soap box derby parade starting 11 30 a m with unit 23, and Sunday August 6 around noon at the Medina County Fair. Sponsored by VFW Post 9520 Brunswick.

Pizzelle Treats Boost Hospital Fund at Medina Fair
Brunswick TWIGS auxiliary members Toni Carque and Lee Marra of Italian descent use homemade pizzelle to make icesandwiches for 30 cents at the Medina Community Hospital fundraiser. The waffles, baked in irons, sandwich Neapolitan ice cream, drawing on memories of Italian celebrations and Coney Island popularity.

Fair schedule at the county fair midway events
The daily midway program lists Youth Day on Wednesday August 2 with comedy jugglers and singers. Golden Agers Day on August 3 features dairy shows 4-H events horse and poultry judging, safety speech, pony races and animal sales. August 4 5 include tractor rodeo egg throw and bee queen contest plus harness racing. August 5 hosts Frolics parade and character shows, with a tractor pull and boutique. August 6 closes with grand parade Gelen Holzter show and a giant fireworks display.

Naked Pig Wins Prize At Medina County Fair
A naked pig skeleton project by Joy Anderson a Cloverlea High School sophomore won third place in the 4 H exhibit. The display shows the skeleton from a pig born dead hollowed and preserved with glue work.

Cycle Overturns Wadsworth Youth with Minor Injuries
A 17 year old Wadsworth youth, Douglas A. Ratliff of 8462 Wadsworth Road, was riding a motorcycle on Rt. 94 when it overturned at the CR 9 junction. He was treated at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital in satisfactory condition and cited for speed for conditions by Highway Patrol.

Eacott Wins Medina Derby in Ford Final at County Fairgrounds
Roy Eacott of Brunswick drove a 1960 Ford to win the Medina County Derby final beating nine rivals and claiming a $100 top prize. Carol Campbell was second collecting $75, Jerry Springs third with $50, and Bill Campbell fourth $35 while Dar Finney took fifth $25. Robbi Crocker earned $20 for lasting to the end in the 16 car field.

In Medina the Bradford family swept top honors at the county fair sheep show. Jill Bradford won Market Lamb I, with Keith Zanone and Debra Hines placing second and third. Jeff Bradford led Market Lamb III and then claimed Grand and Reserve in the Best Individual Sheep Breeding Project, with Jay Bradford earning Showmanship honors as their awards path continues.

Chatham Grange 2487 claimed first in the Medina County Fair booth contest with the Stepping Stones of Success theme. Their display using stones labeled achievement respect understanding cooperation and involvement earned a 75 premium and a plaque. Lafayette Grange 2446 placed second and Litchfield 1860 finished third.
