Educational TV experiment in North Carolina schools
Gastonia joins schools in a large scale experimental educational television project set to begin September 1 in 10 to 15 North Carolina cities. The Ford Foundation Fund for Adult Education and Consolidated University of North Carolina approve a $200,000 to $250,000 plan for a three year trial using WUNC TV studios and microwave links to deliver history science and math instruction to select senior and junior high classes with 200 to 300 students per session. The Rambling Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps will head the Durham parade tomorrow at noon. Gaston Post No 23 American Legion plans a 7 am departure from Memorial Hall, arriving at Duke University at 11 am to uniform up, then departing Duke Field House at 11 30 for the parade and aiming to depart Durham around 5 pm with a Chapel Hill meal stop. Commander Haskell Spencer directs. Drum Major Charles Wetzell will lead. Ten new members have joined, several in their first big parade in uniform.
