New Wilmington Plant Wins Approval and Support
The Piedmont Scout Camp site near Wilmington will host a multi million dollar titanium plant by Allied Kennecott to produce forgings and billets for jet engines. Governor Hodges announced the project will employ about 1500 workers at full operation and cited tax changes that helped North Carolina land the plant. Local officials praise the decision, promising cooperation with Atlantic Coast Line Railway and the companies.
