Thornburg 99 Died. NC's Oldest Mason Passes Away
Caleb Andrew Thornburg aged 99 died at his Bessemer City home after months of illness. He was the oldest Mason in North Carolina and seventh oldest Master Mason in the world. Born July 2, 1849, he was a retired businessman and longtime community figure. Survived by his wife Eunice Simmons. the couple would have marked their 79th wedding anniversary this August. The funeral will be 4 PM Monday at J. M. Odell Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. A Frank Phibbs officiating. Masonic rites will follow burial arrangements.
