At the United Nations the Israeli Arab clash over the Gulf of Aqaba spilled into sharp exchanges in an unusual Saturday Security Council session. Egypt Syria and Saudi Arabia defended the closure of the gulf while Israel and the United States faced sharp criticism. Capt. Howard B. Levy, a Brooklyn born army doctor, was sentenced by a court martial to three years in prison and dismissal from the Army for disobedience and disloyalty related to training Green Beret medics and statements against U S policy in Vietnam. The panel found him guilty of culpable negligence on two disloyalty charges, and prosecutors said the findings amounted to innocence on those counts. The sentence will be reviewed by Ft. Jackson officials and may go to the U S Army Court of Appeals.
A tense stand off near Coyote New Mexico erupts as Spanish American group led by TIjerina vows peaceful protest while clashing with state police. Eleven members of the Confederation of Free Lands face arrest after a march toward national forest lands linked to old Spanish land grants. Governor authorizes further talks while warning of possible delays.
In Roxbury, Boston, a 12 hour riot pitted about 1,000 police against a mob of roughly equal size. Bricks and missiles flew, two buildings burned, injuries reached about 74, and damages were put at 500000 dollars. Police mobilized, arrests hit 44, and officials fended off further clashes amid hot weather.
Prime Minister Levi Eshkol appealed to the Soviet Union through Ambassador Dimitri Chuvakhin, asking Moscow to join other powers in efforts to end the Arab Israeli crisis. Kosygin and Eshkol exchanged notes, urging restraint and a peaceful solution based on territorial integrity and independence. The Soviet response warned against warlike circles and urged all sides to prevent military conflict.

Sham Jr. finding no bombing or strafing by U S aircraft and suggests Vietnamese antiaircraft fire may account for damage. State Department delivers formal rejection to Soviet envoy and urges Moscow to push peace in Vietnam.
A chartered DC carrying British tourists to Spain’s Costa Brava crashed in the Pyrenees near Mont Canigou. Officials reported 88 dead with 83 passengers and five crew aboard. The craft departed from Marston Airport in England and went down about 12 miles north of the French Spanish frontier.
