Other notices report Cedar Falls pledge drive, a broom factory in Villisca, canning company plans, missing men, bond votes, accidents, and liquor enforcement in Beatrice and Humphrey.
Paris reports ongoing Spain republican agitation spreading to provinces. In Oviedo province a riot in Gijon left one dead and two wounded as police restored order. Arrests made while Castelar acts with moderation and urges legal action. Sympathetic links with Portugal noted.
A Sioux Territory dispatch reports Deputy Marshals Tucks and another deputy attempting to arrest Lize Bradham and Joe Merritt for introducing liquor into Indian territory. A gun battle ensued. Bradham was mortally wounded, Merritt arrested. Dom Pedro and the Brazilian empress began a forced cut of allowances, with confiscation of property and two-year exile for the imperial family.
James J. West former Times executive and claimant in civil suits was convicted of knowingly overissuing company stock and sentenced to a $1,000 fine and five years in prison. Co-defendant Charles E. Graham was acquitted. West's counsel sought a new trial while West was freed on $15,000 bail.
