Education Week Observed At Fairbury High School

National Education Week will be observed at Fairbury High School on Wednesday November 13 at 7 30 p m with an open house for parents and friends Dr M C Lefler Lincoln Neb superintendent will be the main speaker Musical numbers will be included Parents receive a schedule of their child s daily program to meet teachers and learn course objectives Special class and school equipment will be on display Refreshments will be served after the assembly The Student Council will oversee student participation for the event.

Mason's Natureland Presented For FHS

Mason family lectured at FHS under KU Department of Lecturers and Concert Artists. Harry Mason shared a life of collecting reptiles and lecturing across Mexico Philippines and the western states. The program featured displays of birds beasts and reptiles with a merry go round Ferris wheel and a grand finale salute.

Senior Class To Hold First Party Of Year At Cramb Cabin

The senior class plans its first party of the year on November 5 at Cramb s cabin six miles south of Fairbury. A wiener roast will be followed by a program of games contests and stunts.

Kuska Selects Trio for Girls' Convocation

Kuska selects Jean Harlan 48 Peggy Neville 47 and Helen Richardson 47 as the girls trio for this year. All three are taking college preparatory courses and made their first appearance Monday Navy Day at the special convocation.

New FHS Sweaters Feature Student Council Emblems

The Student Council members at FHS have ordered new insignia sweaters. Insignia display will take six weeks before appearing in the school halls.

Seniors Lead Honor Roll For Six Weeks

Thirty students made the honor roll for the first six weeks period. Seniors occupy the top with twelve names. The report lists seniors achieving averages of 1.5 or higher across four subjects or 1.6 across five subjects, with names such as Bill Nuckolls, Marvin Malone, Betty Eaton, and Helen Richardson among others.

FHS Band Aids Navy Program Amid Rainy Prep

Due to rain the FHS band cannot practice outside and rehearses indoors for the Navy Day Convocation. Thirty five members were selected for a special band formation. Six members attended the United States Marine Band concert on Saturday October 19 at the University Coliseum in Lincoln.

English Classes Visit Local Newspapers

Miss Spence's English classes toured the Fairbury News on October 8 and the Fairbury Journal on October 17. They saw the teletype in operation, paper cutting, advertising mats, and label production at the News, and watched the presses run as Fairbury Junior College opposed McCook printed. Guides Bill Owens, Clyde Moore, and L. K. Cramb led the tours.

Movie Convocations Presented to FHS Students

Two movie convocations were shown to FHS students featuring singing along, musical films, and sports reviews. The audience rated the films highly with some shows highlighting mariners.

Dr. R. P. Luce of the Navy presented an unusual program to the Hi-Y group on October 17. Most pictures were taken in the Truk Islands. The business meeting decided to host the Hi-Y Halloween party at Camp Jefferson.
