A local listing announces a masquerade ball on Friday April 11 hosted by Tri-Y with Donna Eggert known as Siazy seeking a senior class role and a steady job. She lists interests including cats phys ed dancing and Moon Over Miami, while disliking fake angels spinach fur cats and slacks.
The FFA names new group officers and notes applicants for the Union Pacific Carl Raymond Grey scholarship awaiting winner announcement. Three students Carl Gerwick Richard Dux and Leland Wittler seek the State Farmer degree with other FHS notes and memories included.
Small groups helped pre Easter convocations with a mix of performances. The mixed octet sang on March 3, the triple trio on March 10, and the sextet on March 17 and March 24 closing with the Lenten hymn I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked. The trio sang at Park school PTA on March 4 and for Kiwanis on March 10. They performed Tico Tico and Easter Parade at the nine party held at the Methodist Church on March 21 and joined the Woman's Club program on March 25.
Twenty students were accepted for the MINK Band Clinic held at Peru today. The group includes Doyle, Austen, Jim Chatelain, Betty McKay, Bob Kenney, Bill Nuckolls, Willis Else, Bob Earhart, Dick Sleigh, Bill Shainburg, Richard Chirnside, Dorothy Thompson, Richard Berry, Marlene Whited, JoAnn McDonald, Donnabelle Knobel, Bar Fern Schmitt, Allen Wood, Jeanette Hayes, and Betty Foust.
Leatrice Johnson was crowned as 47 F queen by Don Minnick, president of the F Club, at the annual FF Banquet.
At the Fairbury Hi Y club meeting on March 20 plans for the forthcoming Hi Y dance and the annual mother and son banquet were discussed. The banquet is set for April 20 at the Methodist Church with Bill Shamburg and Ronald Lind as general chairmen and Meewen as program chairman.
The Trail of 47 advances quickly as the first pages of a printer’s work enter a new phase. Riots of ink and press run momentum carry the story forward with ongoing publication across editions.
