The assistant principal Miss Katharine Lambart is praised for dressing bulletin boards for every important date. Themes include Washingtons Birthdays War Bond drives honoring service men and seasonal events like Spring Musicale and Heralding Spring.
Four new courses join the high school program for the second semester including economics physiology hygiene world geography and normal training music. Economics and physiology hygiene already offered to juniors and seniors while world geography becomes an elective for sophomores and juniors and giso remains a requirement for normal training students.
Pep Club changes group seating at rallies and home games with uniformed girls forming a body. Members ushered at Christmas Vesper Service served at open house and handed out programs. Membership opens this semester for those wanting to join and support Fairbury Jeffs.
The Kiwanis Club presented two trophies to the Fairbury FFA chapter. One trophy will be awarded to the upperclassman with the most outstanding program.
The commercial department and non vocational typing bookkeeping and junior business training classes viewed a motion picture on proper tele use.
Spanish classes began puppet and puppet theater work with volunteers Doyle Austen Phil Heiderk and Bob Howell to each group present a short play. The program includes listening to two new instructors and music.
The junior and senior normal trainers will take their teachers' examinations on Saturday January 18. Most of the senior normal trainers hope to complete all of their examinations at this time.

The FHA received a letter from World Festivals For Friends Inc about those girls who earned degrees last spring. Tests qualifying for these degrees were given January 7.
Elzie R. Bown, a nationally known mental wizard, demonstrated his photographic mind during an auditorium program. He memorized countless items and explained how others can develop similar powers, receiving publicity from Robert Ripley in Believe It Or Not. The event was sponsored by the council in the series of convocations.
Ras Cotepe Bea Te Acapella and Gleé Club have relaxed after Christmas. Vesper Service concluded and both groups sing old favorites while learning new pieces. They plan to start Smart groups in active work and prepare contest numbers for future performances.
Fairbury Hi Y讨论 carnival plans for February 21 with school group support and second semester initiation. Six Fairbury seniors Keith Stephenson Jim Wise Betty Eaton Helen Richardson Marvin Malone and Don Minnick vie for Pepsi Cola four year college scholarships and merit certificates with tests February 14 and results announced April 18.
The senior English classes with Mr Fitton note that many failures stem from lack of interest in life work. They emphasize careful vocational choice due to changing economic conditions and state the records are filed for future student guidance.
The Tri Y held its regular meeting on January 13 with Miss Watkin delivering a report on her trip to New York for the UNO Assembly. A potluck supper follows at the YWCA Building with refreshments games and movies planned then a slumber party.
Music planned for FHS band concert with varied pieces. The date appears as February 18 though text is garbled. A clarinet quartet performed January 9 at Mrs. home, indicating local school music activity and student ensembles.
The Trail staff received the second batch of glossy prints and proofs from Bill DeVriendt this week. They near completion of the yearbook dummy with pages ready for printers and have approved the cover which is ordered. Mr DeVriendt will be here.
The faculty K Ray staff and student body extend sincere sympathies to the families of Erwin Briesel and Billy Muller in their recent bereavement.
The dramatics class presented a one act play titled Wienles on Wednesday for Baptist women on January 15 under the direction of Miss Jane Albaugh.
