Arbitation dispatches to be shown at Cabinet meeting
Washington Sept 9 The President may attend a regular Cabinet meeting on Tuesday where dispatches from Geneva on the Arbitration case will be presented. The cotton year 1871-72 closed August 31 with sharp declines in receipts exports and stock at seaports and interior towns. Total receipts since Sept 1 1871 fell to 2 724 189 bales from 4 009 502 last year and exports to 1 969 432 from 3 464 765, with port stocks 45 920 versus 90 040 last year and interior stocks 4 635 versus 10 726. Afloat cotton for Great Britain dropped to 8 000 from 67 000, while Indian cotton afloat to Europe was 303 000 versus 562 000. The figures illustrate a marked drop in cotton yield for the year.
