Total loss remains unascertained though partially insured. The Democratic Convention convened at 10 AM with Hartley of Bedford named as Auditor General on the first ballot.
Memphis aeronaut Maya Clark of Noyes’s chet ascended at 1 PM today and, during descent, struck a brick from a height of about seventy feet, dying instantly.
In Steamboat News this morning Commissioner Halliday weighed steamboat owners liability and wages for unpaid seamen. A. Green sues Armadillo owners for 82 dollars 35 cents for services claimed while aboard awaiting employment. He aided the clerk and pilot in pinch, receiving small sums and board. Armadillo owners contend the arrangement covered wages, lodging, and meals. Commissioner hearing ends with case under advisement and a decision due tomorrow.
