Concord March 18 indications up to 3 o clock show Republicans carrying New Hampshire with Republicans winning moderators in principal cities and towns. A total vote around 3500 is expected. Mr Fogg former minister to Switzerland supports a Republican victory.
A large frame building of Meriden Malleable Iron Works, 100 by 60 feet, used as office and packing space, burned last evening. Fire started in the japanning room from lighting gas with paper dropped into naphtha. Several young ladies employed there escaped with their lives. Loss estimated at 45,000 to 60,000, with probable insurance coverage.
In New York on March 18 the Erie Railroad crisis dominated financial talk. Directors revoked a January 12 1871 resolution authorizing converting twenty two million dollars to stock. Jay Gould reportedly resigned as Erie President while General Dix remains president. The stock exchange will be informed and transfer books closed. Also two suicide cases and a legal stay in the Moore emigrant robbery case were reported.
Dispatch from Havana describes a fierce clash on the Sagua river near Cillage with patriots claiming success. It notes Cuban shortages, desertions, and killings amid guerrilla tactics, and reports 600 deaths from cholera among 800 troops as camps break up between Puerto Principe and Las Tunas.

Prosecutors alleged he poisoned two wives and another husband of an intimate partner to obtain about $3,000 from a death benefit. The jury deliberated more than 18 hours before reaching the verdict.
Reports from Aberdeen to the 8th indicate a strong cotton season with yields exceeding last year. The Raymond Gazette notes the death of Rev Thomas Mixon on the 5th, aged 79, the last surviving member of Mississippi’s earliest Methodist Conference.
In Chicago at the Sherman House the Railway Employer Mutual Benefit Society of the West held a morning meeting to elect officers and conduct business. The treasurer reported $4,126.36 in the treasury and mortality for last week was 170 with 21 smallpox deaths and a rise of 28 from the prior week.
Fire discovered last evening in the Appleton Brothers pencil case manufactory on Gregory Street spread to the Dickson Brothers marble works and the adjacent David Garrett plaster fittings and casks factory. Loss estimated at about $25,000.

At a county meeting the infirmary board and commissioners reviewed the McLaughlin estimate of 11000 to finish the new infirmary. The contractor Handy had a contract of 126400 with 22550 93 extras, and county payments allegedly exceeded by 1518 55 beyond the extras. The board referred the dispute to the solicitor for opinion.
